Economic Stimulus Act of 2008
Rappahannock United Way reports that anyone who files a 2007 tax return and meets the basic income and/or tax requirements will receive a rebate, and in fact many filers who pay no income tax will still qualify for a rebate. This means that someone that would not normally have to file a return such as low income workers, Social Security beneficiaries, certain railroad retirees and those who receive certain benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs should file a tax return this year – to help them receive their stimulus payment. Qualified volunteers are available to assist with FREE tax preparation. Call Rappahannock United Way, (540) 373-0041, x10, to find out if you’re eligible for the upcoming Economic Stimulus rebate. You can also find out more about eligibility and filing assistance in this March 8, 2008, article in The Free Lance-Star.
