LEEP - Library Experiences Just for Preschoolers
What is LEEP?
LEEP stands for Library Experiences Especially for Preschoolers. It is brought to you by the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. The LEEP program provides resources to help the early childhood community bring books and stories to preschoolers.

Who runs Project LEEP?
Jo-Ann Lawson is the LEEP librarian. You can reach her at the Headquarters Library, 1201 Caroline Street in Fredericksburg, at 540-372-1160 ext. 254 or email.

What does LEEP provide?
1. Free workshops for childcare providers, offered twice a year at the Headquarters Library. Each workshop concentrates on a different aspect of using books with young children, from making puppets to telling stories to using books to explain difficult situations. Two hours of continuing education credit are offered. Next workshop: September 30, 2008, 7-9 PM at Headquarters. Topic: TBA.

2. LEEP pouches are designed as mini-units for teachers to use with their children, ages two to six. Each pouch contains age-appropriate books and other materials on various themes, such as dinosaurs or birthdays. An audiotape, a video, a teacher resource, and other items are also included. LEEP pouches are only available to preschools and centers serviced by the LEEP program.

3. Participating centers get regular deliveries of paperback books and pouches, as well as twice-yearly storytimes. Contact Jo-Ann Lawson to add your name to the waiting list for this service. She will also be happy to provide you with more details. Feel free to call her at 372-1160.
